If you are looking for an excellent fun and action packed day out for all the family, you'll love the Great Dorset Steam Fair. Traditionally this English fair is held at the village of Tarrant Hinton, near Blandford Forum in the heart of the beautiful Dorset countryside.
Steam engine exhibits, vintage vehicles, heavy shire horses and rural crafts. Working rural displays on a 500-acre site including old time steam funfair. Widely recognised as the leading event of its type in the world with 2,000 exhibits, 800 trade stalls and over 220 full size steam engines. A giant trip of nostalgia into the days of yesteryear.
The Great Dorset Steam Fair is a typically British event offering a unique blend of nostalgia and entertainment. Come and soak up the special festival atmosphere whether as a day visitor or taking in the full five days by camping on site. There is no other event like it anywhere in the world which is why over 200,000 visitors attend each year both from the UK and from all over the World!

Farming As an agricultural show farming is and integral aspect of our event. Many of our committee members come from a farming background and we are fortunate to receive great support from the farming community throughout Dorset and beyond.
If you would like to learn more about farming whilst visiting the Show be sure to find your way to some of these areas:
Crafts If you are interested in crafts you will find plenty to marvel at around the Showground. Whether you want to have a go at pottery, watch a blacksmith working the iron or buy something unique for your home, you will find it all at the Show.
Gardening & Horticulture The show is a wonderful place to see fine horticulture, both in the competition marquees and around the showground where you can find many growers and exhibitors. You can learn more about how to grow vegetables and plants from the experienced exhibitors and pick a few great specimens to add to your garden. Make sure you visit:
The Horticulture Marquee - The Floral Pavilion - Horticultural Tradestands
Shopping With over 450 tradestands expected at this year's Dorset County Show there will surely be something to tempt you! Our popular food halls contain over 60 stands selling the very best in local and regional food and drink. Stands are open from 8.30am to 6.00pm both days. Cash facilities will be provided by Thomas Cook adjacent to the Show Secretary's Office.
Animals If you like animals you will love our Show! We are lucky enough to attract some of the top animals in the area to our competitions and have many others for you to meet and learn about. Click on any animal you are interested in to find out more.
