I am writing to thank you for your support in 2008 and to tell you about our plans for 2009 – our diamond jubilee year. Next year we will be celebrating 60 years of ground-breaking work in mental health and learning disabilities. Compared to 1949 our sector looks very different today – the UK is now mercifully free of long-stay Victorian institutions and many of the shocking treatments that were commonplace back then. However, the prevalence of mental health problems and the stigma surrounding them means that there is still a lot of work for us to do.

Sports & Leisure Activity Programme
What is SLAP?ContactSLAP is a pilot scheme being run by the Dorset Mental Health Forum. The project's overall objective is to establish ways of breaking down barriers that often prevent people suffering with mental health problems from participating in everyday sports and leisure activities.
Permitted Work and your benefits
If you want to try some paid work while getting Incapacity Benefit, Severe Disablement Allowance, National Insurance Credits or Income Support because of illness or disability, then this is possible under the Permitted Work Rules.
