Local company raise funds for air ambulance in memory of colleague
WHEN Stalbridge Linen Services driver Kim Bidwell was killed in a road accident on the M25 a year ago his family and colleagues decided that as a memorial to him, they wanted raise money for a good local cause - and what better cause than the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance, based at Henstridge Airfield.
"Kim was a real footie fan," said Stalbridge Linens managing director Guy Other, "and over the last 12 months Phil Martin and Sally Milverton as well as other volunteers have worked really hard organising matches, raffles, even a skittles night to raise money in his memory."
Stalbridge Linen Services employs 500 people in Dorset and Somerset including 100 drivers in Dorset and around the UK. Kim's colleague Phil Martin, who is the company's transport safety officer also works closely with Dorset Police to improve road safety for his drivers, including safe driving and defensive driving.
"Kim worked with us for a long time and we wanted to do something good for a local cause and the Air Ambulance seemed obvious," continued Guy, "but it's really all down to Phil and Sally's hard work. And the fundraising is ongoing as there are a couple more football matches organised."
